No, we welcome players of all levels of experience and they will learn the game from volunteer coaches and staff.

Registration fees help cover the costs of operating our leagues, including league administration, scheduling, officials and staff, field or facility usage, jerseys, and equipment. Most importantly, your registration also supports The Community House, a local nonprofit organization, helping us continue to provide quality programs and opportunities for youth and families throughout our community.

Flag Football: Each player receives an NFL-branded reversible team jersey and flag belt.

Jodie Harrison Basketball: Players in Kindergarten-3rd Grade receive a branded team jersey. Players in 4th-8th Grade receive a reversible mesh team jersey.

We are sorry to see you go! If your child is no longer able to participate, please contact The Community House as soon as possible to discuss your available options.

Refund policies and deadlines may vary by program and are provided during registration. In general, when a refund request is made within the eligible refund period, families may choose from the following options:

The Community House account credit: Refund issued as an in-house credit, less a $5 processing fee.

Original payment method: Refund issued back to the credit card used during registration, less a $10 processing fee.

Refund availability may be limited once teams have been formed, jerseys or equipment have been ordered, or the season has begun.

Our programs rely on volunteer coaches and helpers. If you’re interested in volunteering, you can indicate your interest during registration or contact us directly.

Yes! We look to hire recreation staff for both our flag football league and Jodie Harrison basketball league. Applicants must be 15 years or older. Contact us to find out more or apply in-person at the front desk at The Community House. 

For Flag Football - Mouthguard and rubber molded cleats are required. No metal spits, shorts/pants with zippers or pockets.

Holiday schedules vary by program. Any planned games or breaks will be communicated in advance.

Flag Football - begins after Labor Day and games are scheduled on Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend

Jodie Harrison Basketball - Practices are held at The Community House on MLK Day and President's day. Unless games need to be rscheduled, we do not play on President's day weekend.

All updates are sent via email and posted on the website. Please ensure your contact information is accurate so you don’t miss important communications.

Volunteer Coaches are expected to share updates throughout the season. 

Team Formation & Placement

While we encourage a fun and competitive environment, all team placement decisions are made with the best interests of the league and the majority of participants in mind. Our goal is to create teams that are as balanced and equitable as possible.

We understand that children enjoy playing with friends and classmates. However, due to the size of our leagues and our commitment to creating balanced teams, we do not accept individual team, coach, or friend placement requests. Whenever possible, we will make an effort to place players with some children from their school.

The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for creating all teams, and all team placement decisions are final.

Teams are constructed using a combination of the following criteria:

School attending

Grade level, with combined-grade divisions structured to have approximately equal representation from each grade

Number of years participating in the league

Flag Football: approximately 12 players per team

Jodie Harrison Basketball: approximately 10 players per team

These guidelines allow us to create the most balanced teams possible while providing a positive league experience for all participants.

Practice days and times are selected by each team's volunteer coach and are not known when league rosters are created. Because of this, we understand that occasionally a team's practice schedule may conflict with a player's existing commitments.

If your child is consistently unable to attend their team's scheduled practice, please contact The Community House. We will review available options and, when possible, may be able to move your child to a team practicing on a different day.

Team changes are not guaranteed and depend on roster availability, grade balance, and the impact a change would have on both teams. We will not exceed established team roster limits to accommodate a practice conflict.

We encourage families to contact us as soon as possible after practice schedules are announced so we can determine whether an alternative is available.

All participants, parents, and spectators are expected to follow our code of conduct to ensure a safe and positive environment for everyone.

We genuinely want every player to have a positive and enjoyable experience in our league. We understand that sometimes a player may feel disappointed with their team placement, especially if they were hoping to play with a particular friend, coach, or group of teammates.

We encourage families to give their team a chance. One of the benefits of youth sports is the opportunity to meet new teammates, build friendships, and learn to play with different personalities and skill levels.

Once rosters are created and released, team changes are rarely made. Moving one player can affect roster sizes, grade balance, competitive balance, and the placement of other players throughout the division. For these reasons, we are typically unable to switch teams based on player, friend, or coach preference.

If there is a significant concern beyond team preference, please contact The Community House. We are always happy to listen, discuss the situation, and determine what options may be available.

With hundreds of players participating in our league, we understand that many children would love to play with a specific friend, coach, or group of teammates. To keep the team formation process fair and consistent for everyone, we do not accept or guarantee team placement requests.

Teams are created using the criteria outlined in our Team Formation Policy, including school attended, grade level, years of league experience, roster size, and overall balance.

When creating teams:

Volunteer head coaches will have their own child placed on their team.

We make every effort to place players with some other children from their school.

We do not guarantee placement with a specific friend, group of friends, or coach.

We do not accept coach-created player lists or pre-formed teams.

With so many players to consider, accommodating one request can often affect several other teams. Our priority is creating fair, balanced rosters and a positive experience for the league as a whole.

No.  Practice days, times, and locations are selected by each team's volunteer coach after teams have been created. Because coaches determine their team's practice schedule based on their availability and available practice space, The Community House does not know individual team practice schedules during registration.

If your child has significant scheduling restrictions, please consider this before registering. While we will try to assist with significant practice conflicts when possible, we cannot guarantee a particular practice day, time, or location.

For routine team questions, families should begin by communicating with their team's coach. Questions involving league rules, team placement, officials, safety, sportsmanship, or unresolved concerns should be directed to The Community House League Administration.

Coach concerns: We encourage families to first address routine questions or concerns respectfully with the coach when appropriate. If a concern involves player safety, sportsmanship, equal participation, inappropriate conduct, or cannot be resolved directly with the coach, please contact League Administration.

Siblings participating in the same grade division may be placed together when appropriate. Families should contact League Administration if siblings within the same division need to be identified during the team formation process.

Players are generally expected to participate in the division corresponding with their current grade. Requests to play outside of the appropriate grade division are not guaranteed and must be approved by League Administration.

Team rosters are typically released in late August for Flag Football and late December for basketball. Families will receive communication when rosters and coach information are available. Please remember that practice schedules are determined by volunteer coach availability.

Flag Football : Game schedules are typically released in late August before the season begins. 

Jodie Harrison Junior (K/1st): Game schedules are typically released in late September/early October before the season begins. 

Jodie Harrison Basketball (2nd-8th): Game schedules are typically released in late December before the season begins. 

Schedules are subject to change throughout the season due to weather, field availability, and other league needs.

Our league philosophy is that everyone plays. Coaches are expected to provide players with equal playing opportunities and rotate positions throughout the season. Our program focuses on development and participation rather than building teams around the strongest players.

We understand that conflicts happen. If your child will miss a game, please notify your coach as early as possible so they can plan accordingly. Individual games are not rescheduled due to player availability.

Game schedules are created around hundreds of players, volunteer coaches, officials, field availability, and other league games. For this reason, games generally cannot be moved based on individual team or player conflicts. Any schedule adjustment must be approved by League Administration.

The Community House will make every reasonable effort to reschedule cancelled games when field and schedule availability allow. Make-up games are not guaranteed and may require the season or playoffs to extend into November.

Yes, for 3rd grade and up. Teamsideline will be updated at the beginning of each week. 

Yes, for 3rd grade and up. Not all teams will make playoffs and the number of teams are determined by field space and the total number of teams in each division. Teams that do not make play offs will end their season playing a similarly ranked team. 

Officials have authority over gameplay and rule enforcement during games. Players, coaches, and spectators are expected to respect their decisions. Concerns regarding officiating should be brought to League Administration rather than confronting an official during or after a game.

Parents and spectators are allowed on the sidelines to watch games. Parents and spectators are expected to follow our code of conduct.
